Aviapark Mall
Aviapark is one of the largest shopping centres in Europe, located in Moscow.
It opened in 2014, covers about 400,000 m² and has more than 500 shops — fashion, electronics, cosmetics, restaurants and entertainment.
Tens of thousands of visitors come every day, locals and tourists alike, which makes it one of the liveliest places in the city.
Its best-known feature is the giant cylindrical aquarium in the middle of the mall. About 23 metres tall, it spans several floors and holds hundreds of tropical fish — a favourite spot for photos and videos.
Entertainment
Aviapark is not only about shopping: there is a modern cinema, play areas for children and seasonal events such as Christmas and Valentine's Day celebrations.
It also has a very large food court with Asian, Italian and Turkish restaurants, plus fast food and cafés.
Brands after the sanctions
After the 2022 sanctions some European and American brands left the Russian market, but new brands opened in almost the same spots in big malls like Aviapark.
Clothing:
- Zara → Maag
- Pull&Bear → Dub
- Bershka → Ecru
- Stradivarius → Vilet
These new brands target the same young customers at similar prices.
Restaurants and cafés:
- McDonald's → Vkusno i Tochka
- Starbucks → Stars Coffee
The names changed, but the concept and service are still very close to what they were.
Location and how to get there
The mall is close to central Moscow, a few minutes' walk from CSKA metro station and about 30 minutes from Red Square. It is easy to reach by metro or taxi.
Is it worth visiting as a tourist?
On a short trip it is not as essential as the historic sights, but it is a great choice:
- when the weather is very cold (especially in winter)
- if you want to go shopping
- if you need a warm, comfortable place to spend a few hours
- if you are travelling with family or children
The mall shows you modern everyday life in Moscow, away from the city's historic side.
