Izmailovsky Vernissage Market in Moscow

The Vernissage market is one of Moscow's best-known destinations, especially for lovers of Russian culture and souvenirs. Its unique atmosphere reflects authentic Russian heritage, and you will find a wide range of traditional products and beautiful handicrafts.

Here you will find everything connected with Russia and its culture: the famous matryoshka dolls, kitchenware decorated with distinctive Russian patterns, and traditional plates with the famous blue Gzhel painting. There are also many handmade products, including high-quality carpets, so every piece is one of a kind and makes a special gift.

For history lovers there is a section with items from the Soviet era — old books, notebooks, posters and traditional clothing, including old military uniforms. And you cannot leave without seeing (and buying!) the famous Russian ushanka hat, a symbol of the Russian winter.

Right next to the market stands the Izmailovo Kremlin, a striking wooden complex in old Russian style. It looks historic, but it was built recently to recreate a traditional Russian atmosphere for visitors.

Inside the complex there are several small museums and cafés serving delicious Russian food and hot drinks — a perfect place to combine shopping, culture and fun.

Our tip: come in the morning or around midday, when all the shops are open.
